In general, I try to keep Monday's free of any away from home activites so we can play catch up from the weekend, do laundry, and get ready for the rest of the week. I also like to have time with the boys to do extra reading or playing or whatever than we normally get to do and today was full of exactly that!
I'm not sure what it was about today because there were many inside days this winter that did not feel like today did - maybe it's coming off the gorgeous week we just had where they were outside all the time and now everything inside isn't fun anymore? For whatever reason, it felt like we did so many things and still the day seemed to inch by so slowly.
So what did we do you ask? I tend to not be a super creative person by nature, but if someone suggests something to me, I have no problem following directions. My friend Jen posts fabulous crafts all the time that she does with her 2 kids, and Caleb and Noah have been asking ever since they saw some of her pictures to make a farm like Connor's - so today we attempted that as one of our activities...along with finger painting (thanks to Laura!), playing Memory, reading lots of books, playing zoo, making banana bread, folding wash, going outside to check our flower, quiet playtimes, books on tape....oddly enough I was the one that took a nap while they had quiet playtime in their rooms with no need of sleep whatsoever!
Anyway, I really did love our time together because this is not a typical day in our household, even for a Monday, and it was nice to spend some extra time with them...I think their little love tanks should be full for quite awhile!
First thing this morning, Caleb noticed a single daffodil growing up near a rose bush in the backyard and wanted more than anything to go check on it...so finally we put on our rain gear and went out...
Here they are working on their farm creations...
(don't look too closely at the drawing of the animals please)
All the animals inside...
...and it's finished!
This was Noah's first time finger painting can you tell?
And here is Caleb working on one of his creations...
What a day!
