Micah's Big Day!

This past Sunday, March 20, was a pretty big day around here.  Not only was it my sister Anna's 23rd birthday and the 1st day of spring, but it was also Micah's baptism day at our church!

I'm not really sure who all is following my blog these days, but if you're interested in learning more about infant baptism, I highly recommend the book "Children of the Promise" by Robert Booth.  Growing up, I went to a church that practiced adult baptism, and so when Mitch and I started going to a Presbyterian church in college and hearing more about infant baptism (as well as a liturgical style service - but that is a whole other topic!), I definitely thought there was no way I would ever agree or understand why anyone would baptize their babies (or sing hymns and recite liturgy - but again...that is another can of worms).

However, in learning more about the scriptural grounding for infant baptism from our then-pastor, as well as reading the book I mentioned, it really helped me (us) understand what infant baptism represented and even persuaded me (us) to join the "covenant" camp.  There are also some helpful answers to some infant-baptism questions in the Westminster Larger Catechism #162-167 if you are interested in the topic.

Now please don't read this post and think that I'm trying to force anything on anyone!  I just know that there are quite a few people that questioned why we chose to baptize our babies and also that it didn't make sense to me for a very long time, so I thought I'd just put a little blurb on here as to how my thinking changed over the years.

That being said, here are some pictures of Micah's big day!
Here's our little man all dressed and ready for his big morning!  He was just soaking up all the attention!
Pastor Muhlfeld talking about the sacrament of baptism and asking us some questions...
You can see here that Noah is clearly paying close attention...
And the big moment...
Receiving our memory workbook for Micah and trying to keep him quiet as he was starting to get a little loud!
Here we are with Pastor Muhlfeld after the service...
The first of several family shots:
The last of several family shots (can you tell everyone has had it?):
My family from left to right:
Matt (Anna's boyfriend), my sister Anna, my brother Dave, Anne (Sam's girlfriend), my brother Sam, me and Micah, Mitch, my mom, Caleb, my dad and Noah.  Mitch's family was all there too but we didn't manage to get a group shot.
 Everyone hanging out after church...
Caden and Noah doing a fairly good job containing all their energy...
I love Micah's face in this picture:
After church, we had lunch at my parents' house for 20+ family and friends to continue the celebration!
 The boys table:
 Me and the birthday girl!!
I love this picture of my mom and Micah - so sweet!
And here is Micah getting his 101 on Iphone technology...I'm sure he already knows more than I do!
