My friend Laura and I decided to try out a little "preschool" with Caleb and her son Jake this year. It is very informal and we only plan to have the boys get together once a month so it's more of a fun playdate that any type of continual learning experience, but whatever you want to call it - today was the first day! Laura brought Jake here and took Noah back to her house to play with her two younger kids so I could focus on the older ones (each month we will switch off who is the "teacher" and who is the "babysitter"). So what did we learn you want to know? Well we started off looking at blocks to find as many letter p's as we could (for pumpkin) and then headed into the kitchen to make cupcakes with a cute, and easy!, Halloween box mix I found. The boys did great helping me get out the eggs and oil, and while the cupcakes were baking we talked about how mixing yellow and red together will make our icing turn orange. Then the boys spent some time painting mini pumpkins and making little faces on them. By this time, they were both ready for a break so they played in the living room for awhile and then I read them a couple books while they sat on the couches. Next it was off to the kitchen again for lunch and decorating (and eating, of course) cupcakes! The boys both did a great job and it was really fun having a little "class" to teach!

So cute, fun and creative! Are you going to home school? My hunch says "yes".
I can't believe we could send JJ to preschool down here next fall! It goes 4hours 4 days a week! (alot) and even if we decided to do it and paid next year, it's free when they are 4 (state funding, i think) even though it's at a church...anyhow, what do you think? I'm sure I'll blog about it and you can tell me!
