As most of you probably know, my mom is in the midst of a very risky stem cell transplant for the myeloma cancer that has overtaken her blood and bones. She just had the transplant this past Friday and is down at Penn, and will be for the next 3 weeks or so, recovering from the transplant and effects of the high dose chemo she received. She's doing fairly well so far, although the worst is yet to come and so please keep her in your prayers. The chemo will make her very very sick and she will need IV antibiotics as well as a blood transfusion (most likely) later this week. The other thing is that we won't know for a little while yet if the transplant was even successful, so please pray that it really would work and that it rid her of the deadly cancer cells that have invaded her body.
We actually have a CaringBridge website going to keep people updated on her health, which is in part why this blog has taken a big backseat in my life, so please feel free to check it out if you haven't already:
You will need to create a sign-in and password if you haven't done so for CaringBridge in the past, but once you are in then you can sign up under the Guestbook section to receive email notifications when there is a new post.
Right before my mom went down Penn for the transplant, we had the awesome privilege as a family to head down for Mother's Day weekend to enjoy some time with my mom before she went in for her procedure. Someone from my parents' church had graciously donated the weekend away to them and we are SO very thankful for their generousity!!! We had a great time together on the beach and also had a really special time praying for mom Sunday morning. Here are a bunch of pictures from our trip:

Sarah,
I just heard about your mom's battle recently and I wanted to know that I would be praying for her.
It looks like you guys had a lovely time at the beach. What a blessing! We love Brown's donuts too and it's been too long since we had some. I would wait 1/2 hour in lone for them too. :)
