By now in my life, having cared for 2 children through 2 winters, you would think that I have come to expect that at any moment, all our plans for an entire week can go right out the window due to some sort of dreaded illness. Last year I don't remember the boys getting nearly as sick as they have this year, and it seems like even though we haven't dealt with any major sicknesses, the low grade fevers and runny noses last forever! So, that being said, I should have been totally prepared for our nice Valentine's Day weekend to go completely wacko, but for some reason, call me an optimist, I like to think things can still go the way I want them! Ha! After a nice breakfast on Saturday morning with heart pancakes (pictured above), Caleb proceeded to spend the rest of the day with an intense stomach bug, I'll spare you the details, and he was totally laid out all weekend (and still is not completely better). Although my gracious grandparents, who were planning to watch the boys Saturday night so Mitch and I could go out to dinner, had no problems staying with them despite Caleb's sickness, he just seemed so out of it and only wanted me that I just felt too bad to leave him. Plus, by the time we made the decision to stay home, it was 5pm and our reservation was for 6pm so there was no way I had time to shower and wash the grossness from the day off of me, so it was probably for the better that I didn't go out in public! Despite the cancelation, we still made an evening of it after the boys were in bed....RedBox and Chiaro's saved our night:) Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and here's to the start of a new week!
This was our table set for the VDay meal we had on Friday night...that actually went really well and everyone was healthy to enjoy it!

This is a close-up of the little craft we made for daddy last week at my friend Lisa's house. We rewrapped mini-Hershey bars with homemade wrappers, a few with the boys thumbprints (thought we could do lots with thumbprints but that didn't go over to well with the boys). The inside of the wrappers also have special messages to Mitch as to why we love him so much!

Here is a picture from last Thursday with all the boys who were involved in the craft...Dave, Aaron, Noah, Caleb and Caden. We got them to sit so still by holding a bowl of candy hearts in front of them as a bribe for sitting nicely for a picture. Bad parenting...but cute picture:)
This is a picture of the chocolate chip cookie pie I made for dessert that I just have to post the recipe (below) because, thanks to my friend Laura for bringing it to our house once for dessert, it is now one of my favorite desserts!
Sprinkle 1 cup chocolate chips into a pie crust. Melt 1/2 cup butter and mix with 1/2 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, and 2 eggs. Pour this mixture over top of chocolate chips. Bake pie at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Let stand for 1 hour before serving - best when allowed to sit for a longer period of time.

Oh my, Sarah! Your really have been dealing with a lot of sickness this year. It seems like there is a lot going around. Sounds like, despite the sickness, you guys had a really great Valentine's day. It looks like you made it very special for you family.
My friend once made a pie similiar to that...she called it "Toll House Pie" and uses the recipe on the back of the Nestle Toll House chocolate chips. It is so yummy. We like ours warm, with a scope of vanilla ice cream, or a dallop of whipped cream.
Hey Sarah! Well, can relate to Caleb's sickness as Jared found JJ in his bed this morning covered with throw-up! And, me in my condition! We've had such sickness since the new year (with just 1!) obviously all marked by my prolonged YUCK sickness...and V-tine's day for us was well very, very sad but I woke up knowing my hubby loved me and I went to bed even more convinced...anyhoo, we'll get through this Sarah!
I think everybody is getting it. Jonathan got it last night. It is always on the nights when you have plans the next day I find.
Sarah, I love your blog! You do such a great job with it, and I love seeing all those pictures of the boys. Great job!-Kim
