New Petting Zoo in Town

Yesterday afternoon, Caleb asked me if he could "do a petting zoo" - which means bringing down all the stuffed animals from his bed (and yes...all the animals in the pictures below, including the giant whale, are from his bed except for the plastic dog and wooden Clifford) and placing them in "cages" around the dining room. I did this with him awhile ago and somehow the idea just came to him yesterday to try it again. I told him he could do it but that he was on his own because I was busy. I heard him going up and down the steps a lot and I heard a lot of grunting when he pulled Willy the Whale off his bed, but he managed to bring all his guys downstairs on his own. He even moved the kitchen chairs, dining room chairs, and wash basket around to create betters locations for his animals. It looks like a tornado struck, but look carefully, everything is actually extremely organized. Noah came down a little later from his nap (can you tell by his hair?) and was thrilled to "visit" the petting zoo and help "feed" all the animals.
Visiting the bird cage...

Checking on the dogs...

Here they are starting to "feed" the animals...Noah is making sure the bear gets his dinner.

Giving the "kitties" their dinner...Caleb says that he knows that some of his "kitties" are actually tigers, but he likes to call them "kitties" better.

Feeding the dogs (the food containers are just from a drawer of empty stuff I let them play with in the kitchen, not real food)
Giving out "drinks"
These 2 dogs needed a special water bottle that both boys had to take turns giving to them:)

What a cute idea! Caleb is so creative :) I'll keep that in mind for a way to keep Connor occupied after Emily arrives!

How cute! I love Caleb's imagination, and how he organized all the animals.
That's a lot of stuffed animals for one bed! Is there even room for Caleb to sleep? :)

This is so, so CUTE - and so creative for you to have thought of in the first place, whenever that was!

How fun! great idea for when Gideon gets older!=) we're actually probably taking Gideon to a real zoo early spring sometime. we have friends in WV who have young children too and they want us to come out and go to the zoo with them. should be fun!
