Picking (Sarah) & Eating (Caleb) Strawberries

Last week we went with some other moms from MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) from our church to pick strawberries at a local farm. My mom came too and between the two of us we picked about 12 pounds of strawberries in less than an hour, which is pretty impressive considering about half that time one of us was busy either monitering the boys or trying to take pictures:) Caleb had a great time helping me pick for about 1/2 a minute, but when he realized he could EAT them instead, I was on my own! Before he left for work that morning, Mitch had asked Caleb if he could pick a really big one for him. At one point Caleb came over to me holding out a big, halfeaten strawberry informing me that it was "daddy's big one", although before I could even say anything, he popped the rest of it in his mouth too! I guess it was the thought that counted! Even though Noah was totally nap deprived, he had a great time in the stroller eating his Cheerios and watching all the action. The night before we went strawberry picking it had stormed really hard, and although there was lots of hay on the ground to keep us dry, by the end of the morning, both Caleb and I were covered in red! I had carefully picked his outfit that morning since I knew the invitable red would end up on him, but I thought I would be in the clear. I know at one point Caleb put his hand on my shoulder so that's how my back got red, but I still have no idea why it looked like I sat right in the middle of the patch or how the front of my shorts looked like I had put some in my pockets! Immediate washing did manage to take out the stains thank goodness! Nonetheless, it was a beautiful morning and a fun outing that made it feel like summer was officially starting!

I'm glad I took a picture right away because the picking didn't last very long!

And the eating begins....

Noah trying to tell my mom just exactly where that big red one was that he saw...

Some of my MOPS friends with their kids (the girls were so sweet with their little buckets)

Almost done...only half a box left to fill!

And, yes, Caleb is still eating...however he did tell me later at lunch that he did not want any strawberries with dinner:)
