Caleb and I decided that in honor of Noah's 1 1/2 year birthday today we would make him a cake. Noah was supposed to have his 18 month checkup this morning, but because he woke up with a super low-grade fever (that I am convinced by his non-stop drooling is only from his 2 new teeth that just popped through...actually I'm wondering if all of last week's saga was mostly just about teething for him...but anyway...), I canceled his appointment. But since we were all kind of geared up for an "outing" today (sad when your excitement to get out of the house is to go to the doctor!), I decided this would be perfect timing to take a trip to Landis's and get some "yummy snacks", as the boys call the free samples, and search for a Rainbow Chip cake mix. Anyway, after we put the cake in the oven, I washed the dishes and then Caleb asked to wash too, which of course Noah wanted in on as well. They've never done this before simultaneously, but it actually worked out beautifully and they stood right on their chairs "washing their dishes" the entire time the cake was in the oven! I was totally gearing up for battles over utensils and water everywhere, but neither of those things happened (at least for the most part). They just played, pretty much in silence, each in their own little bubbly world, until the timer beeped for the cake to be done and then that was that and they were off to play with their Thomas tracks!

How fun is that! (Almost) makes me wish I had two boys to play together at the sink, but I should try this with JJ as he loves, I mean loves, "BUBBB-OOOOSSS"
