Thankful for Noses and Tongues:)

If you were to come into our house today (which I would not recommend), you would HEAR coughing, sneezing, hacking, and running up and down the steps (both boys have fevers/colds and Caleb also has the stomach bug). You would SEE all of us basically in pajamas and looking rather ragged and pathetic. You would TOUCH unbathed (but smiling) little boys that need noses wiped and hands washed. But you would SMELL the amazing aromas of baked oatmeal that we had for lunch today as well as a new recipe for brownies that I found on Nancy Wilson's blog a couple days ago (and of course if you visited us today you would most certainly be able to TASTE both of these!). I just have to say that these brownies are by far the best brownies I have ever had in my life and I consider myself to have followed in my dad's footsteps as a fairly serious chocaholic (i.e. I do not consider chocolate ice cream or chocolate cake to be real chocolate and therefore prefer vanilla for those 2 options). So if the picture above does not make you want to eat your computer, these may not be for you...but if you're like me and can barely look at them without running to the kitchen to find something chocolate, then you'll be happy to know that they are really easy to make and contain THREE bags of chocolate chips! Enjoy!

Super Rich Awesome Brownies
1 c. butter
3 (12 oz) bags of chocolate chips
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 1/3 c. flour
1/2 t. baking powder
1 t. vanilla
shake of salt
Heat oven to 350. Grease or foil line 13x9 pan. Melt 1/2 c. butter with 1 bag of chocolate chips (I did this in the microwave). Remove from heat and stir in remaining brownie ingredients, EXCEPT for 1/2 c butter and 1 bag of chocolate chips. Pour in pan and bake for 30 min. Cool completely. When cool, cut into squares that fit into cupcake liners. Melt 1/2 c. butter and remaining bag of chocolate chips together just until smooth. Use back of spoon to spread a whollop on each brownie. Decorate with anything else you have! These apparently freeze really well (don't frost until you thaw them or they will be hard to cut) and any kind of chocolate chips can be used.

First, I hope that the boys are starting to feel a little bit better! If there is anything you need just give me a call. Also, these brownies look amazing! I'm going to send the picture to my mom, I think they would be good for the tea room.
