Fresh Idea Friday - Reading Time Part 2

Thanks to all of you that posted comments in response to my reading question (in my last post)! I appreciate it very much! I hope I didn't sound too negative or make it seem like my boys are little terrors when it comes to reading, because those were far from my intentions. Thankfully, both Caleb and Noah do love individual reading times - it's just those "together" reading times that were really starting to drive me up the wall. So thank you for your encouragement, words of wisdom, and just plain empathy:) That being said, I never did actually answer Lisa's question about our kid's favorite books so here are a few from each:

Caleb Books

The Little Engine That Could by Wally Piper
~This was one of my favorite books when I was little so I requested it as a gift for Caleb's 2 year birthday and he loves it too! One of those timeless classics!

My ABC Bible Verses: Hiding God's Word in Little Hearts by Susan Hunt
~This is a great Bible lesson book for preschoolers because it teaches simple verses in very practical ways with "real-life" stories that children can understand. I usually read a couple stories from this book with Caleb while Noah is in his quiet playtime.

High Five/Thomas magazines
~Caleb LOVES these 2 magazines! He receives the High Five magazine in the mail each month and even I get excited when I see it in the mailbox! It has tons of variety in it and even simple little crafts that are super easy to do (like cutting one of the pages into a puzzle). Caleb also was given 2 of the Thomas and Friends magazine from his buddy Dave (thank you!!) and they are both basically completely falling apart because they have been read so many times!

Noah Books

My First Baby Animals by DK Publishing, Inc.
~Noah is pretty much just happy with any book that has things you can touch in it! This is one of his current favorites and he loves tapping the giraffe's "hard hooves" and gets so excited every time he opens this book (or one like it).

Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? by Eric Carle
~Another classic, Noah's favorite thing with this book is to flip as fast as he can through each page saying "woah" every time he sees a new animal. Like I said, he's a very active reader:)

Time for Tom by Phil Vischer (Veggie Tales)
~Noah's must-have bedtime book the past few days is this one. Until about a week ago, it didn't seem to really matter to him which book we read, but now it is definitely better for everyone involved if we just go with this one! It's fun to read this again because for awhile this was Caleb's bedtime choice when he was younger. I think both Mitch and I (and maybe even Caleb) can say the whole book completely by memory!

Great books! Dave also had a touch and feel animal book when he was little and loved it too. I have seen the Thomas magazine at the Barnes and Noble in upper Saucon a few times. But I will see if I can find one to bring home for Caleb.

Thanks for the book suggestions. I don't think we have any of those, so it great to get some new ideas.
I also like your new header! It looks great.
