3 Hours & 3 Stiches Later...

...Noah came home from the ER 11PM Friday night after falling and smashing his chin on our ceramic bathtub. It all started when I tried to rush through their bath because I was supposed to be heading to our church's craft night (that I felt terrible about and learned a very humbling lesson in patience), which in turn made Noah very mad when I started dumping water on his head faster than usual...he then proceeded to throw a tantrum in the tub and managed to have a run in with the tub wall in one of his head flailings. The bleeding didn't last too long and the cut was no more than an inch wide, but it was gaping open so the doctor told us to take him to the ER so they could close it.
We arrived at the ER around 8PM and after waiting in the waiting room, triage, and finally the operating room...we finally were able to leave. Poor Noah did amazingly well the whole time waiting...he just sat on our laps holding Eeyore and sucking his nukkie, which got lots of sympathy looks from others around us. The actual procedure was emotionally rough for us because to keep him still they had to put his arms in a pillowcase behind him, wrap his whole body 2x in a sheet, and then have 4 people (including us) around him holding him still (which was actually really hard to do!). If we weren't convinced this was totally for his good, this would be a terrible method of torture for a child!
But he really did great and he's doing completely fine now...doesn't even seem to mind or notice the stiches. I am, however, wondering how taking the stiches out later this week is going to go!! I don't have any pictures of his little chin because my brother has my camera for the weekend, so these pictures are just some recent pictures of Noah....you can just imagine the stiches:)

***Also, earlier that same day, before fishing (we had a very "exciting" Friday), we found out that all the water in our basement, which we thought was from all the rain last week, is actually a result of our water main breaking...which means that there will most likely be a backhoe in our front yard early this week digging up our walkway and yard to get to the line...big excitement for the boys - they can't wait:)

Poor little Noah, but such a tough guy. (we all have our own stories of having to rush through things and then they turn out badly in the end.) And sorry to hear about your water main breaking. But the backhoe will keep the boys happy! If you need someone to watch Caleb while you take Noah to get the stitches out let me know. Hope everyone is recovering from the evening.

I was behind on your blog...poor 'lil guy. I can imagine we'd have to do the same thing to keep JJ still if he needed stitches...I hope you didn't beat yourself up too much about being in a rush...I know there's always things to learn, but sometimes things like this just happen. (you tell me the same thing if I'm in the same boat;)
