A Good Start

"Our Father we come to you this morning because there is no one else to whom we can go with the burden of our sins. We know that you are a forgiving God and thus we come freely to confess that we have sinned against you. Would you grant us forgiveness for our slowness of heart to believe that you care for us as a father cares for his children. Forgive us for looking at the circumstances that confront us and concluding that there is little hope. Instead may we lift our eyes from the dust of death that is this earthly life and see you sitting on the throne high and lifted up and may our trembling hearts find rest in the knowledge of your tender care for us. Grant us clarity of vision and peace in Jesus, in whose Name we pray. Amen."

This simple prayer was used as our confession at church a few months ago (I'm pretty sure it's from the Book of Common Prayer) and I thought it was so well worded that I started using it as part of our morning worship. A little while after using it, I realized I didn't need to look at the bulletin anymore because I had repeated it so often I knew it by heart, and soon after that I heard Caleb saying it along with me too. A great way to start off each morning in my opinion!
