Fresh Idea Friday - Recipe

My friend Lisa started something fun on her blog, Out of the Blue, called "Fresh Idea Friday." The plan is for her to post a new idea on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month about all different things that would interest moms in particular, such as grocery saving tips or cleaning time savers. The idea is that we would all go to her blog and check out her idea or question and then post on our own blogs our suggestions or tips. I'm always excited to hear what other moms are up to and maybe learn some fresh ideas for our home! This week, being the 4th of July, Lisa suggested sharing some of our favorite picnic recipes with each other. So here is one of my favorite classic picnic foods...my grandma Hollenbach's baked beans! They're so good and very easy to make, and can also easily be done in the crockpot or made the day ahead and just warmed up in the crockpot. You can also very easily adjust the ingredients depending how many people you are serving. Enjoy!

Grandma Hollenbach's Baked Beans

2 big cans Cambell's baked beans, take out bacon on top and drain
1 can lima beans
4-6 strips of bacon, cooked
1 tbs. onion
1 tsp. dry or wet mustard
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. ketchup
1/4 c. molasses

Combine all ingredients and bake 2 hours at 350, or in crockpot 2-4 hours on high or 4-6 hours on low.

Thanks for sharing, Sarah. Are these the beans you had at your house the last time we all got together? If so, they are really great. I love that you can prepare them ahead of time, and keep them in the crock pot! I'll be writing this one down :)
