My parents say they don't remember us getting anything from the ice cream truck that came down our street when we were growing up, but all of us kids seem to have detailed memories of what we got each time! It's funny what kids remember and parent's don't! I definitely was an ice cream Snickers girl and Sam said he always went for the fruity character ones...I can't remember what Dave and Anna said...I'll have to find out! Since it is such a clear memory in my mind, I figured I'd try to give Caleb some of the same fun! Just recently we noticed that both at our house and my parent's house, there is an ice cream truck that always seems to come flying through the neighborhood and we barely have time to catch a glimpse of it out the window let alone actually getting outside to buy something! The last time we were at my parent's house, the truck came right as I was packing the boys up to leave and so I promised Caleb next time we were at Ma and Pa's we would get something from the ice cream truck. That was at least a month ago. My brother Sam is home for awhile and last night my parent's had us over (Mitch had his last church softball game last night but I didn't want to take the boys because of them still being a little sick and the heat) to see him and have dinner together. After dinner Caleb loves going up with my dad to the computer and listening to "band songs", which translates to listening to and singing just about every college football fight song possible! (Caleb's current favorite is Penn St:) ) I was downstairs when I heard the song of the icecream truck and it was definitely flying! I quick ran up to get Caleb and although the music was super loud on the computer, right as I got upstairs I heard Caleb saying that he heard it too! So we made a mad dash down the street, despite taking a couple extra minutes to actually find more than a credit card, and made it just in time! I don't think I've ever seen Caleb run so fast! Fortunately there are lots of kids down the street and I think the driver knows they will all come so he just whizs down there! Caleb was very perplexed about which choice to make but finally settled on a Snoopy icecream-pop. It was a fun little treat for him and brought back some memories for me too! And after Mitch put him to bed last night, Caleb called him back up to tell him that he went to the icecream truck and got a Snoopy...so it's fun to know that he has a cute little memory of that...even if it only lasts until he falls asleep!
We made it!! Caleb's not too happy to be looking at the camera as there are so many choices and so little time!
Walking back with his treasure!

I am wondering if Caleb talked about the ice cream truck today. I think the ice cream truck "memories" are just wishful thinking???
